School Report Cards

The 2007-2008 Marietta City Schools Report card data is provided by the Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA).

GOSA provides accountability for all of Georgia's education agencies, from pre-kindergarten through postsecondary levels. Such accountability intends to improve student achievement and school completion in Georgia.

As part of this mission, GOSA presents its annual report on Georgia's public education agencies. GOSA hopes that the information contained in these reports and future reports will provide educators, parents, students, and all stakeholders with valuable information and challenge communities to improve education for all of Georgia's children.

GOSA strives to increase student achievement and school completion across Georgia through meaningful, transparent, and objective analysis and communication of statewide data.

Single Statewide Accountability System

Under the No Child Left Behind legislation, and as mandated by state law, Georgia is required to develop a Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) which includes awards and consequences.

Awards are presented to schools that show excellence in student achievement and/or progress in student achievement.

In 2008, the Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (MCAA) earned Platinum status for highest performance in student achievement. MCAA is one of only 16 elementary schools statewide receiving a Platinum level award from the Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA).

Over 275 schools statewide earned GOSA awards for their 2007-2008 performance on state curriculum assessments, the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) or Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GHSGT).

The four award levels are Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze, and cover two categories: Greatest gains: Schools that showed the greatest improvement in scores on the CRCT or the GHSGT, and Highest performance: Schools that demonstrated the highest achievement on the CRCT or GHSGT.
